Respect for human rights is one of the significant prerequisites for the success of democracy. Human rights mean the fundamental rights of the citizens recognized by the constitution of the country. It includes the right to live, expression, thought, religion and right to health and
property. The government should ensure these fundamental human rights to its citizens. It must not pose any bottleneck on the path of enjoyment of basic rights to be enjoyed by the citizens by promulgating any repressive law. Law enforcing agencies should not maltreat the people of low status. They must not charge punishment on the innocent people as has been increasingly seen in the Third World countries, turning their blind eye to the real perpetrator.
